Indian Springs Pioneer Campground

Directions:

Use Mapquest to get directions from your specific location to Indian Springs State Park (the link will take you to a map to Indian Springs)

Once in the Park:

  1. Turn right at the main entrance to Indian Springs State Park
  2. At the four-way intersection go straight.
  3. You will pass the picnic shelters to your left, and the staff residence to your right.
  4. After you pass the cemetery on your left you will see the turnoff for the campground.
  5. If you reach a big field on your left, you have traveled too far.

Indian Springs Camp Ground

More specific directions are as follows (from Atlanta):

  1. Take I-75 South to Exit 205.
  2. Turn left on Georgia Highway 16 to Jackson, Georgia.
  3. Take Georgia Highway 42 South out of Jackson.
  4. Fork right at Flovilla towards Indian Springs, Georgia.
  5. Turn right at the yellow flashing light in front of the Big Chief gas station.

Sweetwater Creek

Directions:

More specific directions are as follows:

  1. Entering the park from I-20
  2. Turn right at the road that leads to "Group Shelter 2".
  3. If you pass Factory Shoals Rd. You have gone too far.

Red Top Mountain

Directions:

Use Mapquest to get directions from your specific location to Red Top Mountain State Park.

More specific directions are as follows:

  1. Take exit 285 off I-75 and go East into the park
  2. Once in the park take the 4th Left (Webster’s Ferry Landing Rd)
  3. Take the first left, it will be a gravel road down to the Pioneer camp.

Hard Labor Creek (Camp Daniel Morgan)

Directions:

Use Mapquest to get directions from your specific location to Hard Labor Creek

More specific directions are as follows (from Atlanta):

  1. Take I-20 East.
  2. Travel on I-20 East to Exit 105 (Rutledge).
  3. Turn left at the top of the ramp onto Newborn Rd. and continue going straight until the road T’s (at the railroad tracks).
  4. At the T turn left onto Fairplay Rd. Make an immediate right across the tracks.
  5. Continue straight until you come to Hard Labor Creek park entrance.
  6. Go past the park sign until you see a sign for Camp Daniel Morgan on the right. (It’s the first road inside the park.)
  7. Turn right at this sign, through the gate, and continue until you reach the camp.

Hard Labor Creek (Camp Rutlege)

Directions:

Use Google Maps to get directions from your specific location to Hard Labor Creek

More specific directions are as follows (from Atlanta):

  1. Take I-20 East.
  2. Travel on I-20 East to Exit 105 (Rutledge).
  3. Turn left at the top of the ramp onto Newborn Rd. and continue going straight until the road T’s (at the railroad tracks).
  4. At the T turn left onto Fairplay Rd. Make an immediate right across the tracks.
  5. Continue straight until you come to Hard Labor Creek park entrance.
  6. Go past the park sign until you pass over a bridge.
  7. After the bridge take the right fork and follow the road to the camp

Pickett’s Mill

Directions:

More detailed directions (From Atlanta):

  1. Take Exit 267B off of I-75 onto Canton Rd (GA-120 Loop)
  2. Turn right on Whitlock Rd SW (GA-120 West)
  3. Turn Right on Mars Hill Rd (GA-176 North)
  4. Take a Left on Due West Rd.
  5. A Right on Hiram Acworth Hwy
  6. The entrance to the group shelter parking is on your left.

 

FDR State Park

From Atlanta:

  1. Take I-85 South
  2. IGNORE THE FDR STATE PARK SIGN AT EXIT 41 ON I-85.
  3. Take Exit 21 to I-185 South
  4. Take Exit 42
  5. South on US Highway 27 through Pine Mountain
  6. Take a Left turn onto GA 354
  7. You will go under a Arc Bridge, and then turn off will be on the left side (King”s Gap Road). There is a VERY small sign on the left, and it”s going to be easy to miss. (If you get to Pine Mountain Valley and GA 116, you missed the turn.)
  8. Turn left at the sign for Group Camps and Stables (about 1 mile from the bridge).
  9. At the fork in the road at the rangers house, turn Right into the larger camp.

The gate will not be open till after 4pm, please do not congregate around the gate before then, the rangers get touchy about that because his house is right there.
