Indira was born into a wealthy family within Serpent’s Eye. Her mother was a magi and decedent of the Djinn Qadim. The story goes that her great grandfather was the child of a djinn and a favored courtisan. This child, a boy named Zakariyya, became a very powerful magician and prophet. His prestige became well known and the family took on the name. Malati, Indira’s beloved mother, passed away when she was only eleven years old. The death was a stunning tragedy as none of the magi could understand what caused it. From that point on, she traveled with her father along the trade routes.

The Djinn who lives Between Night and Day

The djinn Al-faq lived in the crack between night and day. He rarely ventured out into the worlds of his fellow djinn, much less into the world of mortal men.

No one but the great thirty and three and Al-faq himself knew whether or not he was a faithful djinn, so the obedient sprits and disobedient alike thought of him as one of their own.

Djinn of both kinds visited Al-faq to tell him their stories.

Tayab, the djinn of ashes, came to the crack between night and day. Laughing, he called out, “Cousin!

I am a Flower of Stone

I am a flower of stone,

What to say from my longing heart

like sun if not on me, it doesn’t shine

I am cold and colorless

I am a flower of stone,

What to say from my longing heart

like sun if not on me, it doesn’t shine

I am cold and colorless

I am all sighs and pain

Like a storm full of dust

A drunken wind in the desert

Lost and going in circles around you

If you don’t fall on me like rain,

and you don’t know how I’m doing

I’ll be losing my petals in two days

Your stone heart is softening for me

I am a stone flower

What to say from my longing

The One with the Brave Eyes

Tell the One with the Brave Eyes

I loved her from the first minute

Tell her I love her

And her love took me down to her deep seas

The One with Brave eyes

I was without problems

Living with my empty heart

The brave eyelashes passed and called me

I was lost in the deepest sea

Tell me why it happened

I wonder with much love and worries

Tell her the truth, I’m in love from the first minute

I am lost in the deep seas

Make up her heart

Or make me forget her love.

Rajiyah Bint Fuam

So that others may know of me, I shall write a bit here about myself and my activities since coming to the forest. I, Rajiyah Bint Fuam, am the daughter of Magistrate Fuam of the Jewel of the River, a beautiful small settlement in the Desert of Brass. Located near the magical city of Serpent’s Eye, the Jewel of the River is so named because of the magic residue washing up on our shores. At certain times of the year, the shores sparkle, and this magic has made our sand especially good for growing crops.

Shardae

I (Shardae) have a love of books, though I (Shardae) haven’t read as much as some other Desert dwellers. This is also likely because I (Shardae) mostly cared to read about the great tricksters and adventurers of the past and stories like theirs.

But I (Shardae) seem to be writing about myself. It’s an odd feeling, like there might be some sort of story like those I’m used to waiting to happen, except that it’s me (Shardae).

I (Shardae) come from near Victory Ewer and know odds and ends.

Tazmira

Tazmira was born to merchants in the city of Serpent’s Eye. They were killed by a group called the Banjii (ban-jai) shortly after her 16th birthday. She was resqued by a Djinn that told her of her magical abiilties. She trained with the Magi in Serpent’s Eye for 2 years before finding a caravan leaving the city and joining it. Her luck held with her for a week later the caravan was attacked by the Banjii, and with the help of the caravan guard, she was able to destroy the Banjii thus avenging her family.

Dahlia

Dahlia is a talented woman who hails from near the coast of the Desert of Brass. She is a fierce protector of those she deems friends, and a ruthless opponent for those that do not meet that qualification. She is a skilled dancer and often performs with Jack of Spears and Coralie Webb. She does not speak much, and often comes across as cold-hearted, but she is starting to open to friends and allies. She holds a deep hatred in her heart for pirates, for reasons as yet unknown.
