Lumencraft

Unique Lumencrafted Items

Occasionally, as in all crafts, a master craftsman may create an item that is one of a kind, or has never been created before. The same is true of lumencrafting and the following items are as unique as their creators:

Sliver Dart - Created by Mattie Irons, this item, which appears as a red and black throwing dart, allows a lumencrafter to use it with martial skill similar to one who has been trained in thrown weapons. A lumencrafter who has already been trained in thrown weapons may use the item with even deadlier skill and accuracy.

Novice level lumencrafted items:

are those items made only with twists, the small red components that are the most common of lumens. Although these items have been labeled as “novice level” they are still require a basic understanding of lumencrafting and a fair amount of skill to make.

A General Overview of Lumens

The Three Basic Types of Lumens

Twists, which, as their name describes are small red twists of material roughly two inches long. Twists are the most common form of lumens and are the basis of currency in the Forest of Doors. Ten twists equals one spiral.

Spirals, which are green spiral coils of material appearing similar to a snail’s shell. Spirals are the second most common form of lumens, and ten spirals equals a knot.

Lumens: Study and Craft

Lumens are elements unique to the Forest of Doors and lumencrafting involves using lumens to create unusual items with special, almost mystical abilities. As lumens are also used as currency in the Forest, lumencrafting can be an expensive hobby or profession. Currently, there are few wanderlings able to shape lumens, but some have dedicated a great deal of time and research into understanding the inherent properties that make lumens so unique.
