Realm of Castles

Queen Jack

In an overview of the Library and after recent events I went looking for notes on Queen Jack to update and found there were no such notes. So I (Taryn) will attempt to remedy the situation.

Queen Jack arrived in the forest along with the rest of the original settlers of the second settlement (the first being destroyed by the Beast men). When she arrived she came with her hair cropped short, her torso bandaged tightly and dressed in male clothing, passing herself off as a young man of the realm of castles.

Order of the Blessed Horn

A monastic Order from the Real of Castles devoted to helping the unfortunate of their world. The perform this duty in several ways: they copy the Scripture; and practice brewing are examples.

Talon's Research Ch. 3: A Mystical Order for the Realm of Castles

As stated previously, one of the main reasons for my research into magic and magical theory was the hope that magic could one day be brought back to the Realm of Castles and accepted by the people there so that the Realm would have a greater means to protect itself from mystical threats and to aid the children of the Unicorn in their ongoing struggles against the Lion and his minions. This is why I worked so closely and in full disclosure with the monks of the Blessed Order of the Horn and Sir Lawrence, a master Noble Paladin.

Talon's Research Ch. 2: The Mystical History of the Realm of Castles, Section 2

The following is a timeline of the Realm of Castles, as best as I can determine, as it pertains to the Sacraments of the Unicorn and the Lion. I will attempt to identify items that are hypothesis and inference by a notation in parenthesis following the entry. This is to be a “quick reference” to those interested in this area of study, as well as to help bring the information described in section one together.

Talon's Research Ch. 2: The Mystical History of the Realm of Castles, Section 1

This chapter will be, perhaps, the most difficult to write down coherently because of how I came upon much of this knowledge and, more importantly, the order in which I came upon it. Further, there is still a good bit of information that is still missing, and so I have had to re-construct some of these events and their potential causes through analysis, supposition, and educated hypothesis based upon what I know did occur and the context of those events.

Talon's Research Ch. 1: Basics on Magical Theory

The “magic” of a world is determined by two things: the Metaphysics of the world and the Will of those who utilize it.

The above is the most basic principle of magical theory. It is this tenant which started my research and has been the centerpiece of nearly every discovery I have made. But what does it mean? First, let us explore what “magic” actually is.

(Author’s note: I will be placing terms into quotation marks until the term is defined.

Talon's Research Prologue: 'Hows' and 'Whys'

The following are my (Talon’s) final memoires detailing my research into magical theory and, specifically, how it pertains to the Realm of Castles. First, I should give a list of my credentials. My initial introduction into the scholarly arts occurred while within the Forest of Doors, and I was initially trained in the method used by the Desert of Brass. This method stresses objectivity, verifying sources, and publishing sources so that others can conduct their own research independently and achieve the same result, thus verifying the original’s findings.

Hymn to the Unicorn

In light of the Gala this upcoming gather, I felt that while I was in-between meditative retreats I would offer to the citizens of the Realm of Castles a Hymn I have to the Unicorn. I present it here both in the traditional language in which it was written, and a rough translation—VERY rough indeed, as it is an older dialect than I am comfortable translating. As a note, I plan to present this formally by performing it at the Gala.

Realm of Castles Overview

Here is an overview of the Realm of Castles, the world I (Talon) came from.

The Sword of the Mists

<

p>The following is a transcription of a manuscript entitled The Sword of the Mists.  Originally written in the language of the Realm of Castles, it is intended to be a manual (of sorts) for those who would journey into the Mists.  For those unfamiliar, "The Mists" are the lands within the world of the Realm of Castles which have not been reclaimed by humanity.
