Transcribers note: I [Marcus] have endeavored to keep both line breaks, and text as close to the original as possible, including errors. I [Marcus] have titled this book per the author’s text and not per my own opinions on the factual nature of the work. I [Marcus] have added page numbers into the transcription for ease of additional transcriptions and to accurately simulate the layout of the book. The images were transcribed under a magnifying glass and at larger size to get more of the details of the images easily seen.

Illuminating Darkness, the true history of the Dark Mountains

Below is the totality of the last four years of research into the true history of the Dark Mountains. It is my (Sol’s) hope that through that this knowledge the past can be illuminated so that the Acerbian people can make a brighter future. The research is truthful and backed up with evidence that I (Sol) placed in this library. I (Sol) bless any who wishes to take up the task of continuing my research.

Roughly 700 to 1000 years ago the Dark Mountains was actual a collection of valleys known as “The Acerbian Tower States”.

David's Song

It’s been too long since I’ve added something to the Library…..here’s something I wrote for someone I expect to see again.

When I was just a tiny girl,
My papa oft would say
“Clouds mean gales a-coming,
And there’s lightning on the way.
So run, set out the barrels,
We’ll have water clean and true.
There’s nothing quite so fierce as can’t make one good thing or two.”

So rage on, weather! I’ll take all that you can do! There’s nothing quite so fierce as can’t make one good thing or two.

I met a man named David
And I saw those axes swing.

David Axe Slayer and his Hunt for the Beast-men Lieutentant

David Axe Slayer and his Gentle Breath-taker,

The Horned Kings men he would hunt that day!

Marching to war to battle his foe

Only a handful of allies would go!

Sol

Sol is an anachronism amongst his countrymen as far as I (Lizbeth) can tell. Preferring white, brighter clothing as opposed to the darker cloth favored by much of his brethren, Sol would seem to be a shining beacon of percieved righteousness. In fact, he has been chosen by the Forest as the Herald of Truth. This has earned him no small amount of spiteful hatred from the members of the Nightmare Host - whom seem to favor Sol as a target whenever opportunity arises.

David

David is an enigmatic man whom I [Lizbeth] had the pleasure of meeting on my first night in Nexus. He hails from the land of the Dark Mountains where his lineage is of some import, but shall for propriety’s sake be omitted in this record. It was a matter of great personal tragedy that led to what may be referred to politely as his anti-establishmentarism in regards to those that rule the Dark Mountains. It would appear that he has risen to some form of a leadership position - in as much that any leadership exists at all in Nexus - amongst those from his lands within the Forest.
