The Dark Part of the Forest

As you travel into the forest one of the hazards one must watch for is a part of the forest where there is an unnatural stillness and shadows cover the place in a twilight during the day and a patch of moonless darkness in the night.  This place is known simply as the dark part of the forest and was the sight where an ancient and great calamity occured.  One possible explanation of this calamity is that this is where an avatar of the Nightmare Host titled Decay was felled and its remnants scattered. 

Now this part of the forest is swarming with the hungry dead that are involuntarily drawn in and even worse of the accursed.  Venture here only if you must and with either the protective magics to ward away the accursed or remain unseen by them or a strong team of warriors to fight them off.

It has been discovered that at the very center of the dark forest is a deep well filled to the brim with bones.  Unfortunately, further information on this well or what might be at the bottom is currently questioned.  It is rumored that this may have once been the resting place of an item capable of destroying the forest, a remnant of Decay.  If true, this item has since been recovered and moved elsewhere by the people of Nexus.

Another point worth mentioning is that for at least one person who has spent extensive time in the dark forest, their free essence or soul appears to be altered in some way.
