A History of Grievances Unredressed

I, Praetor Bonfire of Empty Cradles, Judge of Lord Petru, Valley Lord of the Fifth Holding, as a legal representative of the rightful government of the Dark Mountains, do hold the social construct “Nexus” in contempt for acts of unlawful aggression. We hereby forgo any acts of retaliation against “Nexus”, asking for all worlds to take caution when dealing with “Nexus”. They may speak honeyed words of unity, when in fact, they are merely a smokescreen for violent extremists. We call out to those of a fair mind in world to condemn the following undeniable actions, in a show of peaceful unity.

Nexus” has not honored deals I have attempted to negotiate. “Nexus” offered help in negotiating with the spirit known as Father of Iron and Diamond. Our people have no tradition of negotiation with such beings, and we are much condemned by “Nexus” for our relationship with this entity. However, “Nexus” has never sent a representative to aid our efforts despite their promise to do so. Despite this, they loudly condemn how we manage our affairs.

Nexus” did attack the rightful holding of Lord Petru at the mine called “Father of Iron and Diamond”. This was done under pretext of an alliance, initiated by myself, to coordinate attacks against the former Horned King, a tyrant of nigh unstoppable might. Agents of “Nexus,” knowing that the Honored Praetor would be absent, stormed the mine and slew 30 of the workers there. The effect of this treason is multifaceted; firstly, no attacks were coordinated against the Horned King, despite a need for such. Casualties on all sides were the result. Secondly, “Nexus” attempted to fool the honored people of the Rock of Storms by trading them the property. Needless to say, the people of the Rock of Storms were willing to defend their claim at all costs, and there was much needless feuding between our peoples. It is only recently that the dishonorable deeds of “Nexus” were fully exposed to the people of the Rock of Storms.

Nexus” did attack my person and servitors in a later incident. The attack was not one of declared assault; rather, the forces of “Nexus” crept silently through the dark and assaulted from a position of surprise. Sixty of my best servitors were slain. A quantity of steel not exceeding thirty drams, as well as a number of bales of grain, a number of Lumens, and many farming implements were seized by “Nexus” in the raid. These commodities were sold on the black market, the funds later transferred to an extremist sect of the Seekers of Dawn rebels. As a result, many good people of the Fifth Valley perished in abject hunger. Only a monster would turn a blind eye to such tragedy.
