Hymn to the Unicorn

In light of the Gala this upcoming gather, I felt that while I was in-between meditative retreats I would offer to the citizens of the Realm of Castles a Hymn I have to the Unicorn. I present it here both in the traditional language in which it was written, and a rough translation—VERY rough indeed, as it is an older dialect than I am comfortable translating. As a note, I plan to present this formally by performing it at the Gala.

And I do follow the Unicorn

Who steady contemplation stuns,

As if her very eyes were suns.

Elated and moved I settle,

to fall and rest at her side.

When, my lady, I first knew you,

Stood before you on that first day,

My heart went leaping up, away,

And stayed with you when I withdrew.

And I do follow the Unicorn

Who steady contemplation stuns,

As if her very eyes were suns.

Elated and moved I settle,

to fall and rest at her side.

My lady, I fear nothing more

Now I am become wholly yours

Mercy’s time has come for me

Mercy’s time has come for me

And I do follow the Unicorn

Who steady contemplation stuns,

As if her very eyes were suns.

Elated and moved I settle,

to fall and rest at her side.
