Jack of the Spears

This Wild Folk has come from the Enchanted Glade and has given a new insight about the Folk that many know nothing about. He refuses to give his name and complains loudly when anyone uses the “D” word! In his own words “I got more stories din a tree got bark and dey can be just as loud!” He is rambunctious and loud and loves games, stories, music, and traveling. His one goal, to travel to as many places looking for the “Pine Pipe.” Recently Mr. Bad (See the Sin Eater) had called out Jack of the Woods, this wild Folks name. Jack had been having a hard time remembering his name because of all the stories he learned. The Folk base their names on their aspects or something that influences them and the stories were doing that. After seeing a grop of the folk threatened he overcame his fear and confronted the Mr. Bad. The next day Jack winked (a third time since being in the Forest) and spoke to the Guradian of the Gate. He learned a lot more about the “After Life” and thanks to a boon was able to come back. He did something else very important, he changed his name to Jack of the Spears!

He has explained his own tribes relation to the other folk (both the “Wild” and the “Tree Tamed”) and seems either angry or afraid (or both) of brownies.

In short, there are Folk that are Tree Tamed (normal fairies). For the Wild Folk there are the Grassland Tribes, the Stone Tribes, the Tree Stoppers, the Root and Branch Tribes. He also describes some wild folk as Rovers that are shunned/hiden from by the other tribes because they are crazy (although he doesn’t say exactly who is crazy). This explains why some Wild Folk seem ignorant of the “true” Wild Folk.

Of course, he has never shown a preference for accuracy in news of any sort and has professed to never let the truth get in the way of a good story.

He is quick to make friends and even quicker to a fight. He actually met the Guardian of the Gate of Hell (twice in one day) and seems to have taken a stange fancy to him. He has no home and has not given up his Wild Folk ways.

He has since come to be called many things in the various places he has travaled in the Forest:

  • to the Apsara -Jokes with Spirit
  • to the Goblins - Archibald
  • in the Desert - Golden Tongue
  • to the RoS - Walks with No Name
  • in the DM - Black Wing
  • to the RoC - Winged Bard
  • to the Empire - Golden Onyx
  • to the Folk - Jack or No Name

Jack began to visit the Gatekeeper more and more often (5-7 times total) and was told by him on his last visit that he needed to go home to the Glade. Coincidentally, Gentle Glass Wing preformed a greater working and all the doors opened to the Enchanted Glade. That day, Jack of Spears lead a great fairy trick and actually Kidnapped Princess Analynn (to start off the Masquerade) as well as rescuing Goutan (who had been missing for a couple of years). Later he quietly went back to the Glade with Ol’ One Eye. Once there, he began sharing all the stories of the Forest. He even organized a sort of “Watch” for things from the Forest that entered the Glade that might cause harm.

Later, Tyrsia learned how to perform a grand trick that would save the poppets. Such a grand trick blew on the winds even into the Glade and Jack came back once more to help. He volunteered to have his memories stolen. Unfortunately, his memories became a story that caused him to become Nameless again. He also forgot all his conversations with the Gatekeeper. This caused a lot of people to be sad, for now Jack of the Spears is truly gone. The only hope, is that he seems to still fancy Tyrsia who went into the Glade to find him.
