Kourath Kel (New or Current Horned King)

Kourath Kel and his men are our allies. He was once loyal to the Horned King and was his top shaman. Kourath Kel was exiled by the Horned King for his failure in his battle with us. Kourath Kel gathered the Dwellers who had been exiled or felt the Horned King was not deserving of his throne and came across the river to where we are. His scouts kept track of our small town and he later sought an alliance with us.

We fought against Kourath Kel’s men when we were living in our first encampment across the river. This was the fight to save the Apsara from being forced to teach the Dwellers the magic of Undersea. The battle was long and hard as both sides had brave warriors. The battle would have been lost if a fairy hadn’t laid down her circle on the choke point. Many of the Dwellers fell asleep while charging our retreating men. Most of our warriors were able to be recovered and continue to fight.

After the battle, Kourath Kel was exiled by the Horned King. Kourath Kel believes that he should be king of the Dwellers and has a strong dislike for the Horned King’s violent control of the Forest of Doors. He wishes to slay the Horned King, take the throne, and return his men to their home world. We have agreed to help Kourath Kel in his mission and in return he as offered to help us with our enemies, and open trade between our communities. He will even trade teachings of his magic if you can make him an offer he likes.

Our alliance with Kourath Kel and his men has played an important part in the gather of the coming fall. Some of the Horned King’s men have made it across the river in search of our encampment. We fought their scouting party that had chased a couple of the Robber-Baron’s men. Later, we fought several waves of their men. The second wave took out our men. They stabilized us, then started to torture us to try and force us to tell us where our encampment was. Alphanom (known as Wolf at the time) came to the once battle field where we were held captive. Alphanom led two of the Dwellers back to the camp.

The Dwellers that Alphanom took back to the camp turned out to be our allies. The three of them gathered Aerie and Thorn. The Dwellers took Alphanom and Aerie’s weapons to make it seem like they were prisoners (Thorn hid hers behind her back). When they arrived at the site where we were being held captive, they tossed the weapons to their owners and took the Horned King’s men by surprise. Our warriors limped back to the town on the shoulders of our friends and our Dweller allies went where they need to go.

I [JiYun] am sure the war against the Horned King will give us the opportunity to repay our allies, Kourath Kel and his men, in kind for their aid.

Kourath Kel has taken the title of ‘Prince’ among the Dwellers. According to ‘Prince’ Kourath Kel, his taking of this title denotes a direct challenge to the Horned King’s rule, though Kourath Kel will be unable to take the title of ‘King’ until the Horned King has been defeated. At a recent celebratory gather, Prince Kourath Kel spoke at length about his shamanistic abilities and that he follows the totem of Darien-Kaa (spelling approximated), the ‘many-tailed jaguar’.

Prince Kourath Kell is no more. He is the “Horned King” as of the gather of the 9th month of the 4th year. Upon taking the sword Rattlespine he was physically transformed and grew horns according to his title. One could find it Ironic or appropriate, that the previous Horned King took the appearance of a “White Tiger” and it was the Ghost Tiger who presented the sword Rattlespine.

It is thought that he has returned to his homeworld the “Feral Gardens” with what troops he had remaining and the other troops he could gather.
