Marcus

As apparently no one will write on my (Marcus) behalf, I (Marcus) guess I (Marcus) shall do so myself.

I (Marcus) am from the 6th Valley, I (Marcus) am a medic, my light clothes are less a reflection of my beliefs and more my upbringing. I am currently apprenticed to both The Lord of the Worm Eaten City and one other.

To answer the questions Ghost Tiger asked of me (Marcus)

Can you explain more about your 6th Valley? The 6th valley is ruled by Lady Tacita. It is different from the other valleys, but truly, any Acerbian knows how different the valleys are from one another. In mine we are constantly besieged by invading forces from the other valleys. There is something in the valley the other Dark Lords desire but what it is, is beyond my ken. As such many of us are given weapons and armor and taught to use them. The constant state of war in the valley makes it one of the few that can support dedicated healers. While I possess a weapon and have formal training in its use, the lessons never really stuck. I (Marcus) probably wouldn’t even be ranked on the Empire scale. Possession of a weapon is apparently rare for non-praetors outside of the 6th valley. We are also highly dependent upon the zombies to do the farming as we are more often fighting for our lives. However because of our training and armament we are also one of the safer valleys, with less creatures of the dark and the forest to worry about.

What training did you receive as a healer? What rank are you wishing to achieve? Did you serve as a healer to anyone of importance or during any great events? My training is from my parents; my mother was a midwife for the three towns around and my father the mortician. A lot of the rest of picked up on the battlefield or through trial and error. Currently by Empire standards I (Marcus) arrived in Nexus as a rank 3 healer. I (Marcus) am currently beyond the imperial classification presented in the library. I (Marcus) really couldn’t say how far beyond. I (Marcus) have operated on no important people in my time in my homeworld beyond the local elders and at no ‘major’ events.

Why is the color of your clothes significant? You may notice many of my homeworld compatriots favor dark colors. Like everything else this is more for utility than fashion. Helps you hide in the eternal night. My clothes are no exception. A good doctor and surgeon must wear light colors clothes. If the clothes are not lightly colored it is not possible to tell if they are truly clean, or if the stain has simply matched the clothing color. If the clothes are not truly clean, then anything done runs the risk of re-infection, poison and the like. Even if the clothes are dirty, if they are lightly colored you can at least clearly tell where and keep those areas away from any open wounds while working. This had the added advantage/drawback of making more more visible in battle in the dark to both allies and enemies. A number of seekers seems to favor white and light colors. As I (Marcus) am not a seeker, I felt it was important to make the distinction of why I (Marcus) wear these colors.

I (Ghost Tiger) have seen you frequent the Library, is scholarship important to you? Is there an area you enjoy studying? Scholarship is not particularly important to me as in my own world books are nearly unknown and reading is outlawed. A lot of my time is still exploring the novelty of being able to read. It will likely come as no surprise that my interests drift to my craft and I (Marcus) often find myself reading Willow’s notes on autopsies, plagues, and the like as well as lumencrafting, alchemy, and herbs in their relation to healing.
