Rajiyah Bint Fuam
So that others may know of me, I shall write a bit here about myself and my activities since coming to the forest. I, Rajiyah Bint Fuam, am the daughter of Magistrate Fuam of the Jewel of the River, a beautiful small settlement in the Desert of Brass. Located near the magical city of Serpent’s Eye, the Jewel of the River is so named because of the magic residue washing up on our shores. At certain times of the year, the shores sparkle, and this magic has made our sand especially good for growing crops. My father is known as the “Ruler of the Heart” because he often lets his heart make decisions in especially difficult cases. He is a highly educated and highly respected man. I have one brother that my father does not like to talk about—Kamal, who left home many years ago to find adventure and treasure. I have not seen Kamal in many years. At home I often engaged in diplomatic activities for my father in neighboring settlements, and it was on the way to one such engagement that I fell through a door and found myself in the forest.
Since coming to the forest, I have continued to help diplomatically whenever I could, but I find myself increasingly drawn to my studies of the ancient civilization of Oun and their peculiar uses of magical artifacts. I was surprised to find that I had gained some renown in this library, as Ghormivati told me when he invited me to the Scholar’s Table at Feast. Apparently, I have also gained some renown for my sudden and controversial engagement to Sven Stormgar of the Rock of Storms. My sisters Tazmira and Breezy—to whom I am linked through the Sisterhood of the Silken Veil—don’t see what I see in him. I suppose I am tired of the politics and scandal that I keep finding with men of the Desert. In the Rock of Storms, one marries for protection and for children, but not for power. In Sven, as in the Forest as a whole, I have found some liberation from my former, carefully controlled life. I only hope that my father can somehow stomach the notion at least enough to remain on good terms…
I will endeavor to keep this account updated. In this forest, who knows what will transpire? Also be sure to watch for articles on my research findings—they are sure to interest any like-minded scholar.
Yours, as always,
Rajiyah
