Spine Beasts

Spine Beasts are large herbavores native to the forest.  Their appearance is that of a green-furred animal with many spiny ridges, protrusions, and quills, varrying in color from green, brown, even yellow.

Spine Beasts are herbavores, meaning that, in genral, they are not generally agressive towards wanderers.  However, Spine Beasts have a very strong sense of territory and will attack those it percieves as encroaching on its territory.  These creatures are decently strong and resilient, as well as possessing of the ability to hurl some of its spines to rather painful, and potentially deadly effect.  Spine Beasts are generally slow, however, and not particularly clever.  It has even been said that these beasts could be domesticated and trained, though apparently such training would have to begin at an early age.  Spine Beasts can usually be placated with food, though some of their favorite foods happen to be useful herbs which can be used by skilled alchemists.  For the sake of being able to preserve and use these herbs, it is regrettable yet often times neccessary to fight these creatures.
